Welcome, Nelson

Think of all of the tiny towns that you’ve stopped in, or driven by. They could be anywhere – that’s where you find them. They happen out of nowhere and, just as often, disappear in your rearview mirror as you hurtle toward your next destination. That box is ticked. But, if time and fortune allows for us to slow down and smell the proverbial roses, you’ll be surprised at what comes your way. The world is full of that kind of thing.

We spend some time scouring the world’s content to find articles, images and things to do for our readers. Of course we will highlight places like Venice or Paris (bein sur) but sometimes some of the best happenings are tucked away. And today, we will highlight one of those, and one that’s more or less in our backyard here in Canada. Let us introduce you to Nelson BC. It’s a city located in the Selkirk Mountains on the West Arm of Kootenay Lake in the Southern Interior of British Columbia, Canada. For most of you, those names won’t mean much, but there are a number of reasons to do a bit of research to discover these “well kept secrets.”

More to the point, Nelson has brought itself into the spotlight by doing something rather unusual. The city runs its own 100 year old streetcar for all to enjoy. And what a beauty it is. And, on top of this little gem being a highlight of a visit to Nelson, there’s a lot more to do there, as well. First of all, you’ll enjoy top walking and hiking in this part of the world – it’s Canada, after all. From our point of view, though, by visiting a place such as this, you’ll help smaller companies to continue to thrive.

The nature up in that part of the planet it stunning and, being Canada, the locals are friendly.
