 Not so Faroe way

Have you been to Iceland? We have and it was certainly one-of-a-kind in so many ways and a must-see if you’ve not been. It feels like a European Nordic country, but also feels somewhat isolated and disconnected to its European mainland cousins. Hard to describe, but certainly unforgettable.

If you have been to Iceland and the rest of Scandinavia, then here is another “Nordic” location that should be on your list: The Faroe Islands. Where is that you might say? It’s a fair enough question, as it isn’t one of those “must-see” destinations for most travelers. But, if you want a mix of the rugged and unapproachable with the modern 21st Century Nordic values, then you may want to put The Faroe Islands on your to-do list.

But, before you go, watch the video below, courtesy of one of our fave YouTubers, Steve Marsh. His kind, never-say-die chipper demeanor will make anyone smile, even as we watch him face adversity of one form or another. Here, Steve travels on the ONLY UK FLIGHT to this Magical Island Nation. Atlantic Airways to The Faroe Islands. Atlantic Airways, here we come. Steve is excited because he’s taking an Airbus 320  (yay!) which is fitted with GPS based AR0.1 technology, which means that even if the weather is terrible, it is likely to Be able to land, unlike other airlines. It’s foggy up there.

So, Why visit the Faroe Islands? Where do we start? The Faroe Islands, a self-governing territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, offer a unique and captivating destination for various reasons: Firstly, the Stunning Natural Beauty: The Faroe Islands boast breathtaking landscapes with rugged coastlines, towering cliffs, and green valleys. The islands are a haven for nature lovers, hikers, and photographers. With a relatively small population and limited tourist infrastructure, the Faroe Islands provide a sense of unspoiled wilderness. Visitors can explore untouched landscapes and enjoy a peaceful environment. The Faroese culture is distinct, shaped by a blend of Nordic and Celtic influences. Visitors can experience traditional Faroese music, dance, and cuisine. The islands also have a unique language, Faroese, which is rooted in Old Norse.

Nature is just a step away. How about a day out with the Puffins?
