Let’s go back in time: 1950’s California

Thanks to the Electric Interwebs, we modern species of humans are able to go back in time to either remember, or to learn anew. Not surprisingly, one of the most memorable places on earth is Los Angeles, and it has been for decades. As busy and as thriving as it is, we discovered a video on YouTube that appears to be a tourist teaser for reasons why to visit the city of the angels for your next trip. My, how things have changed, and also, how they’ve stayed the same. We visited not too long ago and still had one laugh after another about the Cali vibe. If you visit, be sure to wear your smiley face: there is no shortage of personality, nor things to do.

The video (of its time in 1953) includes the Astronomy Center, where the original Brown Derby restaurant, which was a destination in itself, Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery Park, Pasadena Huntington library, Hollywood itself, including Grumman’s theater. Many of these are still open for you to visit and enjoy.

The Century Plaza Hotel was the place to be seen. It still is. See below.
