A “powerful passport” refers to a passport issued by a country that grants its holders a high degree of visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to other countries around the world. In essence, the more countries a passport holder can visit without needing a visa, the more powerful or valuable that passport is considered to be.
Especially useful is the Visa-Free Access: The primary determinant is the number of countries a passport holder can visit without obtaining a visa beforehand. A powerful passport may allow its holder to enter a large number of countries either visa-free or with visa-on-arrival privileges.
