Hotel Banyan (tree)

. . . don’t sit under the Banyan tree, with anyone else but me. When your editor was much younger, there really weren’t too many ways to travel. Car, usually. Bus if that was what was available. Train if you were loaded enough to pay for rail (and that was even if you had rail nearby: many places didn’t.) Flights were a far-off dream for most everyday people back then. Still, our family found ways to scrimp, save and see the world and bask in it, even if the digs were plain and, perhaps, a little tired. As I got older, old enough to dream of somewhat more upscale adventures, a brand name that was big in the 1970’s through to several decades was the former Banyan Tree.

They were destinations with a capital D. The Singapore-based luxury brand is known for sustainable resorts and villas. They featured Key locations include Banyan Tree Veya Valle de Guadalupe in Mexico, Banyan Tree Lăng Cô in Vietnam, and various Asian locations. That was waaay out of our league, but we still dreamed, even way back when. But that was then, and this is now. “Hotel Banyan” most commonly refers to properties within the Banyan Group (formerly Banyan Tree Holdings), a Singapore-based luxury brand known for sustainable resorts and villas. Key locations include Banyan Tree Veya Valle de Guadalupe in Mexico, Banyan Tree Lăng Cô in Vietnam, and various Asian locations. The selection of properties is delicious. Why not try it? Click here
