Hello again, Frank Lloyd Wright.

It’s always a thrill to be able to write something new about our all-time favourite architect, Frank Lloyd Wright. It’s one thing that his – without hyperbole – stunning buildings were actually built. But the fact that his work is so revered and – even more – loved by his army of fans to this day says it all. To describe his work as unique is just scraping the surface; it was groundbreaking in more ways than one. What’s even better is that you can still see – and actually step inside and visit his creations, all over the globe. (We have a compendium of articles here.)

So, when we hear that one of his true masterpieces, the Tokyo Imperial Hotel is getting ready for a major expansion, that excites us even more. Paris-based Atelier Tsuyoshi Tane Architects (ATTA) is moving forward with its plans for a major expansion of Frank Lloyd Wright‘s beloved Imperial Hotel in Tokyo following their selection as the project’s winning design architect in November of 2021. This revamp will be the fourth such major overhaul of Yuzuru Watanabe’s original 1890 design and connects Wright (who endeavored in his multiple renovations from 1923 to the present) to blend eastern and western motifs as much as he could) with the now and development into the future of architecture as more than just a building. It will be a culture-cross-discipline that this most jaw-dropping edifice deserves. Read  more here about the project, courtesy of Archinecht.com
