Gator Age?

Mention the word Florida and it whips up a riotous cacophony of responses: “Florida Man.” Gators. Toothless. Hurricanes but, most of all, relaxing sunshine, beaches and palm trees. Even if you’ve been (we have many times) and you try to poo poo the state, it’s easy to always be pulled back by the attributes listed above. Now, think about it. when was the last time that the word history was used in context about Florida?

Oh yes, it’s been there all along, but the state is drowned out by the sun and the surf. So, as this post’s title implies, we’re walking in a separate direction – history. Yes, you heard that right. And the sunshine state’s has much more to offer if you know where to look

Florida’s natural springs are more than scenic wonders – they are portals to a prehistoric world hidden beneath turquoise and deep-blue waters. Among the most striking sites are Devil’s Den and Silver Springs, where divers descend into freshwater sinkholes to uncover fossilised remains of Ice Age giants. These silent relics evoke a time when colossal creatures roamed the Earth – and offer a stark reminder of our planet’s fragility and uncertain future. Watch above, courtesy of the ever-inquisitive, ever-exploring and ever-sharing BBC. It might just change your plans in Florida. History is always a good adventure when you travel.
