To get to the Camino de Santiago, choose your specific route—such as the popular Camino Francés—fly into a major nearby hub like Paris, Madrid, or Biarritz, and connect via local trains or ALSA buses to your exact trailhead. Fly to Biarritz: Fly into Biarritz Airport (BIQ) in France, take local bus number 14 to Bayonne station (30 minutes)
then catch a regional train to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port (1.5 hours). Fly to Paris: Take the TGV train from Paris Montparnasse to Bayonne (5 hours) and transfer to the local train to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port (1.5 hours). From Spain (Pamplona/Madrid): Take a direct ALSA bus from Pamplona to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port (2 hours) or a high-speed train from Madrid. Getting to Alternative Trailheads (Sarria or Oviedo) To Sarria (Shortest walking route to get a certificate): Fly into Santiago de Compostela Airport (SCQ) or A Coruña Airport (LCG), then take a regional train or bus directly to Sarria (2 to 3 hours).
