Aviation geeks: Aeroscopia is calling

One thing that we’re not shy about here at Matouring is our choice of aircraft: Boeing 747 notwithstanding, we are 150% Airbus aficionados. And, given the recent (April 2024) ongoing turmoil that Boeing is experiencing, with what appears to be a long road ahead for them to not only get back on their feet, but also to gain the trust of passengers and the airlines themselves again, our admiration and belief in Airbus grows ever stronger.

So, we were quite pleased to catch a YouTube video of a destination that is definitely on our list of places to visit: Musée Aeroscopia. Ostensibly Airbus’ museum and showpiece, this expansive and informative destination, located in Toulouse, France, is dedicated to aviation history and technology. It showcases a wide array of aircraft, including commercial airliners, military planes, helicopters, and prototypes. The museum offers visitors the opportunity to explore the evolution of aviation through interactive exhibits, displays of historic aircraft, and informative presentations.

One of the highlights of Musée Aeroscopia is its collection of iconic aircraft, such as the Concorde, the Airbus A300B, and the Super Guppy. These aircraft played significant roles in shaping the aviation industry and are celebrated for their technological advancements and historical importance. Overall, Musée Aeroscopia offers a captivating journey through the history of flight, making it a must-visit destination for aviation enthusiasts and anyone interested in the wonders of aerospace technology.

Toulouse, capital of France’s southern Occitanie region, is bisected by the Garonne River and sits near the Spanish border. It’s known as La Ville Rose (‘The Pink City’) due to the terra-cotta bricks used in many of its buildings. Its 17th-century Canal du Midi links the Garonne to the Mediterranean Sea, and can be traveled by boat, bike or on foot. It’s lovely.
