Why not skip Venice, Denis?

As much as we love, treasure and miss Venice, it has its limits. The overwhelming throngs completely take away the allure of that most beautiful of gifts. If you manage to find a way around the madding crowds, you’re either supremely blessed, or just clever with your timing. Did you know, though, that there is a place for you where sense prevails, the breathing is easy and, as an added bonus is that you’ve just discovered another Venice of sorts.

Say hello to Treviso. This gem offers a similar charming, canal-filled atmosphere without the overwhelming crowds, it features a beautiful historic center with waterways and Venetian-style architecture, but is a more relaxed, less expensive, and less touristy experience. Treviso also has unique local offerings like Prosecco wine, tiramisu, and radicchio.

Finally, a bit plus is that the cost of visiting Treviso is generally lower than in Venice. Bonus! Want to learn more? The BBC has the full story. Click here
