With all of the horrific activities that have grabbed the world’s attention lately (January 2026) we can somewhat be forgiven for taking a pause and giving Ukraine some attention and more than a little love. In 2026, the situation in Ukraine remains a complex and deeply challenging humanitarian crisis. While frontlines have shifted and global headlines fluctuate, the daily reality for millions of Ukrainians is defined by resilience in the face of ongoing displacement, infrastructure challenges, and the long-term task of reconstruction.

Humanitarian Landscape: Millions remain internally displaced or are living as refugees abroad. The primary needs remain consistent: stable housing, winterization support (heating and insulation), and mental health services for those traumatized by years of conflict. Infrastructure Resilience: Ukraine has made remarkable strides in decentralized energy (using solar and smaller gas turbines) to protect its power grid. However, the energy system remains a target, leading to periodic “stabilization” blackouts.

So, what can we do? The International Rescue Committee (IRC): They provide essential health care, cash assistance for food/rent, and protection services for women and children. UNICEF: Focuses specifically on children’s education, healthcare, and psychological support within Ukraine. United24: This is the official fundraising platform launched by President Zelenskyy. You can choose exactly where your money goes: Medical Aid, Reconstruction of Housing, or De-mining. The Come Back Alive Foundation: One of the most transparent local organizations, focused on providing defensive equipment and training.
These are just a few of the current efforts underway. Can you help? Certainly our Affiliate partners, World Nomads provides support related to the Ukraine conflict primarily through travel assistance for existing policyholders affected by the event and by facilitating donations to a humanitarian project supporting children and families. They do not currently offer new travel insurance policies for travel to Ukraine due to active conflict and government travel warnings. Can you help?
