Up, Up and away in Paris.

Ah, Paris. Beau, beautiful, vieux, old, cher, expensive, merveilleux, marvelous, amusant, fun, superbe, wonderful, à la mode, fashionable, bondé, crowded. The words escape us. Yes, Paris is all of that. That’s why we always want to return, even though we’ve been there dozens of times. Most of us tend to scan the streets and the alleys when we’re there. There are treasures at every bend. While there, most of us enjoy the thrills of the Paris Metro. A mechanical miracle for sure, but it goes far beyond that (no pun intended.) It’s an absolute must for those who live there. Congrats to both cities for thinking laterally, making commuting fun and saving the planet all the while.

The Paris Métro, short for Métropolitain, is a rapid transit system serving the Paris metropolitan area in France. A symbol of the city, it is known for its density within the capital’s territorial limits, as well as its uniform architecture and historical entrances influenced by Art Nouveau. One thing that you could always count on is that the Paris Métro would always duck in and out as part of its endless job. But – and this may shock many of you Paris Métro diehards, the city has opted to follow cities such as London to look to the skies to offer other modes of transport. Fun for everyone and, as of the last time we checked, it was free

When London had the Olympics, they created. The cable car built for the London 2012 Olympics is now known as the IFS Cloud Cable Car, having previously been the Emirates Air Line. It is London’s first and only urban cable car, operating across the River Thames to provide a scenic journey and transport link between North Greenwich and the Royal Docks. The service, operated by Transport for London (TfL), is a monocable detachable gondola system that opened in June 2012.

While in Paris, do yourself a favour and stay at Hotel de Champ Du Mars. The Hôtel du Champ de Mars, a warm and family-run hotel, is located in the heart of Paris at the foot of the Eiffel Tower in one of the city’s most beautiful districts. We’ve been, and it’s always our go-to stay when we’re in the city of lights. You can even point your face down the Rue to see the Eifel tower in all its beautiful glory. Ready to look and book?
