Too high, Dubai?

Reach for the stars and you may get a handful. And that is an idiom (that we just made) up that might well describe the pickle that Dubai is in now with it’s gobsmackingly huge Ain Dubai project. Intended to be the largest Ferris wheel in the world, this awesome – literally awesome effort has gone nowhere and has done nothing in over 18 months. A cursory glance at it (and, even better, watching the video below courtesy of the B1M.com) almost defies belief that something of this magnitude could even exist in this world. But, as you’ll see in the video, it does exist, but seems to have ground to a halt, with no hints from the owners as to what’s next.

For a bit of background, Ain Dubai is the tallest giant observation wheel ever built, standing over 243 m high; opening in spring 2015, the wheel has been shuttered and effectively non-operational since March of 2022. Ain Dubai is located at Bluewaters Island, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Wikipedia
