Tap’a bit’a Sapa

Vietnam never disappoints. But, most travelers tend to go to the “typical places” such as Ho Chi Minh City , Danang and Hanoi. They are all absolutely top destinations and worth your time, if you haven’t been. However, in virtually all travel adventures, it’s the hidden (or bubbling up) places that are usually the gems. And as a by-product, the crowds tend to be smaller and the effort much more manageable. So let us present to you Sapa. Located at 1500 meters (4921 feet) above sea level in Vietnam’s remote northwest mountains, Sapa is famous for both its fine, rugged scenery and also its rich cultural diversity. Sapa is an incredibly picturesque town that lies in the Hoang Lien Son mountain range near the Chinese border in northwestern Vietnam, known as “the Tonkinese Alps”. Sapa and its surrounding region is host to many hill tribes, as well as rice terraces, lush vegetation, and Fansipan, the highest peak in Vietnam. Other great mountains like Aurora & J, where Sa Pa sees the first rays of sun, make up a very steep valley.

One of the aspects of Sapa is that it is more or less-travelled than other places in Vietnam, so if you are looking for the “authentic” experience, this is a great place to do so. One thing to keep in mind is that the residents of Sapa tend to be somewhat less tolerant of loud and obnoxious tourists, so be a good traveler.

Sapa is a popular destination for trekking enthusiasts. There are numerous trekking trails that take you through the scenic countryside, allowing you to witness the local way of life and enjoy panoramic views of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, including Fansipan, the highest peak in Vietnam.
