They aren’t just vacation spots; they are the literal blueprint for what the modern world imagines when they hear the word “paradise. The dramatic geography of French Polynesia is a major driver of its fame. The region features a stunning mix of jagged, volcanic “high islands” (like Tahiti and Moorea) and low-lying coral atolls (like Tikehau or Rangiroa). Because the islands are geologically young, the volcanic peaks are still sharp, dramatic, and cloaked in dense, emerald rainforests, dropping steeply into calm, neon-turquoise lagoons protected by outer barrier reefs.
