Seaplane? Take plane!

The more time we spend in managing our site (finding new content, fun videos and more) the more we find that new opportunities never cease to appear. And, this latest opportunity ended up right in our backyard. And, for us, anyway, it’s a bit of a thriller. Down at the end of the long promenade of Vancouver Place, right next to shops, restaurants and a large “runway” of its own where the kids can blow off steam, sits an airport like no other in Canada. This runway is made of water and the aircraft lands on both water and Terra Firma . Welcome to Harbour Air Services.

As their website states, “A lot has changed since we started flying B.C’s coast back in 1982. We’ve grown from a two seaplane airline servicing the forestry industry to one of the world’s largest all-seaplane airlines in the world, flying over 500,000 passengers a year (prior to March 2020). Throughout the company’s growth and memorable milestones, what hasn’t changed is our commitment to safety, team spirit, innovation and service.”

We’ve taken these flights before, and if you’re an aviation boffin like we are, you’ll be over the moon with the flight. The company states: Harbour Air is proud to operate the largest all-seaplane fleet in North America. Our fleet primarily consists of a variety of Canadian built de Havilland Beaver, Single Otter and Twin Otter aircraft which are envied worldwide for their history, craftmanship, safety record and workload capability. In 2018, a Cessna Grand Caravan EX was also added to the fleet which is equipped with IFR technology and is primarily used to service the Vancouver/Seattle and Vancouver/Tofino routes.  Be a part of history.
