Racing on the roof

We love classic cars, so if that’s not your thing, you may want to amble on down to the next post. But, if you like history that includes automobiles, then we have the goods for you. Firstly, if you are a car buff, you might recognize the phrase “on the roof.” If not, it references the famous / infamous / notorious / hilarious Saab racer Erik Carlsson who was known as “On the roof” Carlsson due to his enthusiastic rally driving style, often ending upside down.

So, back to the topic at hand, which is also a fun and funny story of a somewhat similar automotive rooftop situation, but this one is based in Italy, and the cars of interest are Fiats. Years ago, Fiat built a new factory for its new line of cars and, as you’ll see in the video, there was a racing track on the roof! We wouldn’t be of much use as writers if we didn’t let you know that it’s still there, and – even better – you can visit this rooftop automotive gem.
