Peace and Love / 和平与爱

We here at Matouring love the world and its people. It’s always a thrill to travel to a new place, settle in a bit, and then be surprised and gratified at how easy it is to meet someone new, learn about them and then – more often than not, go away with a new friend in the world. It’s easy. A smile is often all it takes. And you can take your mobile phone, download Google Translate and easily have a conversation in a different language. Awkward at first, but, within a minute or two, you’re doing it – and laughing, too. The world is your oyster and it’s calling you.

To the point of this post, then. For a while there, we thought that the world was coming to its senses. Wars were halting. Countries were cooperating. People were happy, safe and health (Covid notwithstanding.) But, no. Now (2023, February) there are still threats of bombings, nuclear attacks, cities being destroyed and citizens dying. Former alliances unraveling. But for what? And why? Haven’t we learned anything? Do the people really want this? Highly unlikely. When will it stop? What can we sane and thoughtful people do about it? Fight back in our own ways. Stop the aggressors in their tracks. Don’t always believe what you read. Think globally, not nationally. Everyone deserves a good life. >rant over <

So, with that out of the way, we do have some good news. . . . a good sign. Our affiliate friends, British Airways have re-opened flights to Mainland China again. Leave it to the Europeans to extend the olive branch and make the world as one again. Above and beyond British Airways superlative service, they should receive your business simply because they’re global thinkers. After a two-year absence, British Airways has announced it will resume flights between the UK and mainland China. Tickets have gone on sale today for flights to Shanghai from 23 April and Beijing from 3 June.

British Airways first flew to China in 1980 and continued to do so until the pandemic. The airline has been working hard to reintroduce these important routes to enable customers to reunite with family and friends. From 23 April, flights will operate daily between London Heathrow and Shanghai Pudong International Airport – flight numbers BA168/BA169. From 3 June, flights will operate four times per week between London Heathrow and Beijing Daxing Airport – flight numbers BA88/89.

This may not be the step-change that we want, but it is a start. Kudos to British Airways. Read more here courtesy of BritishAirways.com
