Welcome to another episode of places you probably haven’t heard of before. Today’s gem: we feature Istria. It’s the largest peninsula within the Adriatic Sea.
Located at the top of the Adriatic between the Gulf of Trieste and the Kvarner Gulf, the peninsula is shared by three countries: Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy 90% of its area being part of Croatia. Most of Croatian Istria is part of Istria County.
What makes it particularly alluring is the fact that it resembles so many other gorgeous countries in Europe, but it has its own “thing” and that is that you you can travel around the country and you feel like you’ve seen it all you’ve seen all of Europe.
Subsequently, you are left with the impression like you have spent months travelling, whereas Istria has “tricked” you into exploring this beautiful country alone.
