Sheesh. You’d think that being an airline stewardess or steward is swanky enough, as a rule. But did you know that they actually get to have some time off, even when in or out of the plane? And they get to travel to all sorts of swell places that most of us will never see. It’s so beguiling as a role, that dozens if not hundreds of wannabees try to land that sweet place every year.
I sure wish that I was still young enough and vibrant enough to take on that job. It seems like a doddle. Just open the plane’s doors, point people to their seats and then – hey presto – time to sit down for some hard-earned drinks for some snacks and gabbing with their fell crew members. And how about all of those wild antics that they get up to outside of the plane. Saucy! Or, have I been watching too many terrible films from the 1970s?
Thanks to you all for putting up to that clearly tongue-in-cheek waste of space. But, part of it is actually useful as you watch your real beleaguered crew doing their very best to keep the customer satisfied – even those modern morons or “influencers” who exhibit their most rude and knuckle-dragging behaviour.
One of or fave sites for travel content is Gary Leff’s View from the Wing. Here, he shares the skinny on how cabin crew actually do it. And if the passengers do misbehave or remain uncooperative, there will be consequences. Click to read more here. It is a tough job for air crew, for sure, but at least some jets have beds in back to permit the crew to recharge.
