We’re going to off piste a little bit with this post, and we hope you find it interesting. We content creators on the electric interwebs try to make a penny or two by partnering with affiliates. Online affiliates are essentially digital middlemen or independent marketers who partner with a brand to promote its products or services. In exchange for their marketing efforts, they earn a commission for every sale, click, or lead that results from their referral. Think of it as a performance-based referral system. If no one buys anything, the brand pays nothing. If the affiliate drives a sale, they get a piece of the pie. “Affiliate Link”:

When an affiliate joins a program (like the IKEA or Emirates programs we discussed), they are given a unique URL. This link contains a tracking code. Tracking & Cookies: When a user clicks that link, a “cookie” is dropped into their browser. This allows the brand to know that the customer came from that specific affiliate, even if the customer doesn’t buy the product until a few days later. The Commission: Once a purchase is confirmed, the brand’s system automatically calculates the commission and pays the affiliate. So that’s it in a nutshell. We here at Matouring do this because we love it. We don’t make much, since we are some ways down on the food chain. But any little helps. So, when you are ready to make a sale, think of us. Thanks!
