The UK is an amusing and sometimes baffling place to those who don’t frequent the country. Probably one of the most visible aspects is not only how diverse each area is, but also how different the people can be. Most countries in the world share this kind of patchwork of history, of course, but the UK (and most of Europe) have such rich and deep historical veins running through its population, that it is firmly dyed into its peoples’ DNA. Remember that the British Empire was one of the largest empires in history, and its colonies spanned various continents. The movement of people between the UK and its colonies led to a diverse population.
After World War II, there was a need for labor to rebuild the country. The UK invited people from its former colonies, especially from the Caribbean, Africa, and South Asia, to fill this labor gap, which further spiced up the gumbo that is Britain today.
But, to the point. As you travel around the UK, you’ll actually stop, see and hear that gumbo in today’s Britain. Urban areas, especially cities like London, have become melting pots of different cultures and ethnicities. The availability of job opportunities, cultural events, and social activities in urban centers attracts a diverse population. And, we think, any country that welcomes newcomers, is alright in our eyes.
As is anywhere, there are the rich, and there are the not-so-rich. But, the people still want to enjoy themselves, no matter what. The rich fly off to Corsica for their holidays. The not-so-rich do what they can to stay happy, and pleasing their offspring is one of those activities. The UK is rich in offering one-stop shops for entertainment, or better known as Holiday Parks. They often are looked down upon by “those with more,” but what can be better than giving your children unforgettable experiences, no matter your situation.
