Before we start: if you haven’t been clued into Open Culture, may we open the door for you. Open Culture is a massive, high-quality digital repository that curates and provides free access to educational and cultural media. Founded in 2006 by Dan Colman (a director at Stanford University), its mission is to centralize the “best free cultural and educational media on the web.”

Think of it as a curated gateway to the world’s greatest intellectual treasures that would otherwise be scattered across the internet or hidden behind library portals. As the “owners” say, The primary value of Open Culture is curation. While Google can find anything, Open Culture finds the right things—high-quality, legal, and intellectually enriching content—and organizes them into easy-to-navigate lists. And did we mention that it’s fun, as well? Online books, videos, audio and more. Even better, it’s free. So, as the weather gets more bleak in many parts of the planet, put on your slippers, cuddle up with a book or a film courtesy of Open Culture. If your tech has the horsepower, you can easily cast any of this content to your big screens. Let’s hear it for Open Source!

The more you travel, the more people you meet. Hey presto! New friends from all around the globe. Learning is fun. We have lots of content to offer for free, as well. Click here for our blog.
