Regular travelers know how fortunate they are, even if it’s for work: not all of us are that blessed. Sure, we grumble at having to deal with airports, queues, baggage and airport security: hey ho – that’s the way it goes. Consider yourself lucky. But do you really give the airports, themselves, their due? Half the time we’re hurtling from one gate to another. And when you finally plop yourself down into a chair for the inevitable wait, do you really ever stop to smell the roses and not just the coffee, as it were? For example, all airports strive to create visually appealing architectural designs that reflect the local culture and provide a sense of place. Unique architectural elements, cultural motifs, and the use of natural light can enhance the ambiance and make the airport visually appealing. Most of us probably just walk on by.
Some airports incorporate indoor gardens, green walls, or atriums with lush vegetation to create a sense of tranquility and provide a refreshing atmosphere amidst the busy airport environment. These green spaces contribute to a healthier and more appealing terminal environment. They’re doing it for you and me.
