It’s sometimes difficult to see the state that our world is in right now. The biggest and most glaring example is how so many people go to bed hungry, or don’t have a sufficient place to sleep. We, as humans, should be doing much better than that.

The current international poverty line, updated by the World Bank in June 2025, is $3.00 per person per day, reflecting 2021 Purchasing Power Parity (PPP), replacing the former $2.15 line. This figure represents the typical poverty line in the world’s poorest countries, used to track progress on extreme poverty, with other lines set for lower-middle ($4.20/day) and upper-middle ($8.30/day) income countries.  Who can live on 3.00 per person per day? It’s unforgiveable. Our affiliate partners, Musement, take this seriously. Above and beyond their raison d’etre, which is providing excellent activities worldwide, they state that

Many children here suffer from sickness and diarrhea through poor sanitation and lack of nutrients. 18kms from Wajir town, 300 households, Close to half of the families in the village arrived in the last three months. There’s been no rain for two years and the shallow wells have been dry for five. WASDA (Oxfam partner) did emergency destocking in March, which means they bought about100 goats at a decent market price, slaughtered them and gave them back to the community. WASDA is also WFP’s distributing partner (monthly) but coverage is only 40% of the village.
