Game on!

For many decades, hunting wild animals was “the thing to do” if you considered yourself as a “sportsman.” Never mind that dozens of species were dying out because of the “sport.” Luckily, many more forward thinking people realised that hunting was not sustainable. The most significant criticism revolved around the impact on wildlife conservation. Almost all people now agree that trophy hunting can (and did) contribute to the decline of dozens of endangered species. If not managed properly, the “sport” can lead to overhunting and disrupt the natural balance of ecosystems.

And, of course, many others find the idea of killing animals for sport or as trophies ethically and morally objectionable. Hunting animals solely for the thrill or to display their parts as trophies can be seen as disrespectful to the animals’ lives and the ecosystems they inhabit. Luckily, more and more game-focused activities these days look in different directions to offer the “safari experience” without the anguish.

So, if this modern kind of safari excites you, our affiliate friends, Titan Travel have the pakage for you.

“Feeling starstruck as we map the constellations and planets above the reserve on a stargazing night. Getting closer to nature spotting the Big Five on seven game drives, two bush walks and a lion tracking experience. Being more than just a visitor – learning about endangered species and the people who protect them.”

Too often on safaris, it can feel like we’re simply ticking boxes. On this in-depth African safari stay, we’re based for the full seven nights in a luxury lodge in Mabula Game Reserve, surrounding ourselves in the wildlife and wilderness of South Africa’s bush. With the Big Five and Little Five on our doorstep, we spy all creatures great and small on daily game drives and bush walks – including lion, cheetah, elephant, hippo, rhino and warthog. Stunning!
