We know we’re not the only ones who have cottoned on to the fact that the world has now stepped into rich mode. In Canada, for example, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 6.8% on an annual average basis in 2022, following gains of 3.4% in 2021 and of 0.7% in 2020. Those are sizeable jumps and, unlike the past (we’re talking about the 1980s and 1990s,) the prices have, for the most part, have not dropped commensurately, even with the gains mentioned above. And for many, even the slightest price increase can really hit them hard, and this is not even including those who are – and perhaps for the first time – on the streets.
Still, there are those in the world who want to see the world who can afford flights or tours or cruises every so often. But, often, since they are trying to buy the budget seats online and, in many cases, they are failing to win. And sometimes, when they do obtain the tickets, there are some shenanigans at the gate and they travel all the way to the airport only to find that their flight has been oversold. What can be worse? But, more importantly, what can be done?
