Ukrainian travel consultant Yulia Kulyk would like to tell you a little bit more about the Soviet era in modern Ukraine. Ukraine today is an independent country, but it used to be a part of the Soviet Union from 1919 to 1991, so that’s a big part of our history. We cannot deny that this topic is interesting to many tourists from all over the world. And Ukraine does have a lot to offer in terms of Soviet history, architecture and the Cold War era.
There are many post-war sites to see, but one of the most impressive one is a nuclear missile base, which travelers can visit now because it has been converted into a museum. Indeed, there are just two such museums in the world—one in the U.S. and the other in Ukraine. (See video below.)
