Be careful when you cross the street

Now . . . this post is dumb. Silly. Government regulations gone amok. Who thought of this? What benefit does it bring? What crime is it stopping? How much did it cost to implement, and how much does it cost to keep operating each year? And why – in this day and age – is it even still a thing? Especially when we’re talking about two allegedly rational countries, Canada and the USA??

One of our favourite YouTubers is Tom Scott. We’ve featured him a number of times on our site. He has a knack for finding the odd, the unusual and – in this case – the simply dumb.

Rue Canusa (or Canusa Avenue) is a street that’s split in two by a border: the northern part is in Stanstead, Canada, and the southern part is in Derby Line, USA — and border crossings here aren’t as easy as they used to be.

And some witty comments from his followers:

“Just imagine playing ball with your friends and you accidentally throw it to another damn country” or “How many times have you travelled internationally?”

We here at Matouring live on the border with the USA and Canada. Behold! On the left of the “border” / fence is Canada. On the right is the USA. Read a few more of our articles about this, below. Nuts!

On the Canadian side of the border, Choose Thrifty to book your car to tour the demilitarized zone. Click above.
In the USA, Hertz is everywhere. Top deals and an impressive selection of vehicles. Click above.

While you’re in Canada, why not stay a while? Clarion Hotels are a top choice. Click above to book.
