We watched a video the other day that explained, as part of a wider topic on the video about why Southwest Airlines in the USA (affiliate friends of ours) has a regular flight where the distance is only 84 miles.) 84 miles?? Surely there must be another, more environmentally-friendly way – and hopefully a better one. There is, but Southwest have their reasons (see here.) But, it started us thinking: what are possible options that get you where you want at a low cost and with the least hassle?
We think there could be. Bear with us, as our logic may be for only a few people who decide to take this route (no pun intended.) After considering the Southwest video’s details, another video popped up about owning a plane of your own, in this case a “previously enjoyed” Cessna 172 light aircraft. And it got us thinking. If you find yourself regularly flying to the same places, many of them larger airports with sometimes expensive fees (allocated to the airline planes,) this slightly daft sounding proposal may make sense.
Watch the video below, which outlines what it costs to own a light aircraft. With four seats and freedom to fly where you wish (within reason, of course) this could be a viable option for regular commuters. It might not seem as daft an ideas as it sounds.
Every city (and most towns) have municipal airports where you can start your flying lessons.
Imagine getting good enough to fly this beauty, a Cessna 195B (1953.) Impress your friends. Learn more here if you want to get started.
