One by one, country by country, city by city, countries are finally recognizing that rail is not the future, it’s now. We don’t have to bang on and on like we do here at Matouring. We know that rail is (or should be) the king of travel for every country. So it’s really exciting to see new rail believers when we heard that Etihad has joined the train. game.
Etihad Rail is the UAE’s first national railway network, recently launching its highly anticipated passenger service. The trains travel at speeds up to 200 km/h, connecting the seven emirates with introductory fares starting at AED55 for Comfort class and AED120 for Premium class. Current Routes: Passenger services between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah are operational, completing the journey in just 1 hour and 45 minutes. Upcoming Stations: Stops in Dubai and Al Dhaid are scheduled to launch on September 30, followed by Sharjah on March 30, 2027. Speed and Travel Times: A trip from Abu Dhabi to Al Ruwais takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes. The network will eventually link 11 cities and regions across the UAE. What’s even better is that this is no local choo choo. This the kind of rail that you would expect from Etihad. On-Board Amenities: The CAF-built carriages feature Wi-Fi, power outlets, spacious luggage areas, and reserved seating. Premium class adds extra legroom, wider seats, and complimentary refreshments.
