….. it’s an Ilyushin IL-96-300 from Madrid, touching down in Havana, Cuba. And the blogger here is rather pleased. It’s less about the flight and more about the aircraft, the Ilyushin il-96-300.
In some countries, the idea of Russian planes and the country of Cuba get sabers rattling and spittle splattering in all directions. Ho hum. What year is it? Oh, it’s 2023 in most places. And yet, some countries – such as Cuba – are banned purely from where they are located, or where and how they choose to define their own lives and their beliefs and values that may not walk in step with “The Haves.” And so, the choices dwindle for some (and sometimes too many) and their lives never end up being as full as they could / should have been.
So, it is with great pleasure that we offer you this bright, hopeful and perhaps prescient view of an individual enjoying his best life – where he wants to and how he wants to. So, to start, here’s more about the plane itself that excites our blogger: The Ilyushin Il-96-300 is a long-range, wide-body commercial airliner developed by the Russian aircraft manufacturer Ilyushin. It is designed to carry passengers over extended distances and is often used for international flights. Here are some key features and information about the Il-96-300. The typical seating capacity of the Il-96-300 is around 262 passengers in a two-class configuration. However, the actual configuration can vary based on the airline’s preferences. Pretty standard fare, there, and we were informed that there have been no Ilyushin Il-96 incidents.
The jet itself was developed to compete with other long-range aircraft from Western manufacturers, such as the Boeing 767 and Airbus A340. The Ilyushin Il-96 is a Russian four-engine jet long-haul wide-body airliner designed by Ilyushin in the former Soviet Union and manufactured by the Voronezh Aircraft Production Association in Russia. It is powered by four high-bypass Aviadvigatel PS-90 two-shaft turbofan engines.
To be fair, this illustrious plane is also used by Aeroflot, so when the winds have changed – literally – your chance to fly a bit of history awaits. Be aware that this video is 3 years old as of things posting, so things could very well have changed. Also, if you live in Canada, you’re laughing, as we say: you can fly to Cuba any time. And – PS: one thing that we loved was that the people clapped when the plane landed. Another little bit of history. We’ve got more articles for you here if Cuba is your destination.
