….. is now the New Mexico.
If you read many travel magazines, you’ll often see “throwback” articles that (if you’re old enough) remind you of resorts, hotels, restaurants and activities from the bygone era – usually the 1950’s and 1960’s. For those of us who were around back then, we may have been lucky enough to drive for hours (likely in a 1960 Chevrolet Corvair 2d Club Coupe) to get to a place that our parents had promised would be spectacular. We wouldn’t have our noses pressed to our mobile phones, because they didn’t exist back then. We had comic books, a deck of cards, the car radio – playing The Beatles or Paul Revere and the Raiders – and the wind in our hair, courtesy of the wind-down windows.
Some of us were fortunate enough to be able to travel to other countries different from our own. And, if you happened to live in certain parts of North America, that meant that you could visit Canada or Mexico. Wow, that was really different. Well, if this sounds like you that we’re writing about here – or even if it’s not – you still have the chance to live that period, as it were, courtesy of Mexico’s Laguna Shores Resort.
We really like this place, because it harkens back to those days when things were ostensibly simpler. First of all, look at that beach. The photo is new. The colours are retro: true to the times. Behind the hotel – wide open spaces. But, rest assured that the resort is bang up to date. Showcasing a year-round outdoor pool and sun terrace, Laguna Shores Resort is located in Puerto Peñasco. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant. Free private parking is available on site. Some rooms have a seating area to relax in after a busy day, as if you’ll need it. And, you almost have the beach to yourself.
