In the past few decades, the world has seen so much technological change. New ideas, new designs, new techniques and new materials. If we can dream it, we can build it.
But does that mean that we should? Vaunted French architect, Jean Nouvel, who has been responsible for some of the most innovative design in recent years, thinks that maybe one approach would be to look in the opposite direction for inspiration.
With that in mind, he has designed Sharaan, a step back – literally – in time. Rather than build a new edifice in the desert, Nouvel will repurpose the actual stone into a magnificent retreat, using the earth’s materials and light to bring his design to life.
While this is not new news (it was announced in 2020,) the resort is expected to be completed in 2022.
