Zoom, but no boom

Few of us were fortunate enough to fly the Concorde supersonic aircraft.  I knew someone who did, and when I asked him – excitedly – how it was, his only comment was “cramped.”  But, to be able to fly from New York City to London in three hours is still something that is mouth-wateringly appealing.  Still, today’s airlines don’t seem to have the appetite to kick-start supersonic flight, like British Airways and Air France did in the 1970’s.

Enter Spike Aerospace.  This aggressive company is planning on picking up where Concorde left off.  According to the company:

“The Spike S-512 Supersonic Business Jet is a stunningly elegant and innovative business jet that sweeps passengers to their destinations in half the time it takes on other jets. Flying at Mach 1.6, it is 450 mph faster than any other civilian aircraft which enables Spike S-512 travelers to do more and enjoy more of life.

London is just a three-hour flight from New York — making a day trip for business possible. Or a quick jaunt to Paris from Dubai for shopping and entertainment – and back home again in time for dinner.”
