Most of you, our treasured travelers, have spent some time in the UK. Surely you’ll also have visited much, if not all, of the plethora of activities that the country holds for you. You may have even ventured out of the big cities to see what it’s like in the lush green villages and beyond . . . that should be a must-see.
There’s history around every corner. Of course, Stonehenge is the daddy of all historical Must-sees. But, it’s not the only Henge. There are dozens more, and archeologists are unearthing even more as we speak. These new finds definitely deserve your attention, as many of them set the template for how humans lived, loved, survived and eventually headed off to the heavens. One of these places is awaiting you: West Kennet Long Barrow.
A fascinating element was that they left the bones of their ancestors to slowly melt away. It made them feel like the ancestors were there, still with them. It’s a nice sentiment. When you visit, you will likely be mildly shocked when you realise how many of these barrows still exist. And you can easily a freely walk amongst them, which is not always possible at Stonehenge. It could set you on a path to discovering all of them.
Impress your friends. These monoliths are taken care of by English Heritage, so you’ll know that they’re in good hands. Watch the video above, courtesy of the always excellent BBC.
