We tend to write a fair amount about our planet and its future. Nowadays, there is no shortage of obnoxious rich self-centered individuals on the planet who only think of the next business they can buy, or the next competitor they can take down. In the meantime, the planet is ablaze. They forget those who have no ability to act to save the planet: these people will be the ones who will bear the brunt of Mother Earth’s dismay in the future. It kind of blows our minds about how this imbalance will effect everyone, including the billionaires. According to NASA, overall, Earth was about 2.45 degrees Fahrenheit (or about 1.36 degrees Celsius) warmer in 2023 than in the late 19th-century (1850-1900) preindustrial average. It may not sound like much, but watch the news: floods, fires and general disasters are front-page news now. Humans must act.
But, to the point of this post. There are those out there who see what’s happening and are doing whatever they can to make things right. And one of the first places to look is at how humans get around the planet. We have a couple of examples, below, that prove that some are acting. Not surprisingly, China is on top of this. With 1.412 billion people (as of 2021) they need to be on top of this; it’s an imperative. And they’re not sitting on their hands. Watch the videos below as they test smart buses that are clean, efficient and – eventually – coming our way, too. Ironically, places like Bogota in Colombia already have the template, but are still in the fossil-fuel stages. Still, they have been way ahead of more “advanced” countries – by many decades – and show that it can be done. As we always say, take the train, no matter which style.
In the meantime, rail exists and it does the job. If you’re traveling, consider rail. See below.
Cambridge, in the UK, are already modifying buses to follow tracks. More efficient, and faster.
OMIO offer terrific options for rail in Europe. Click here to discover a new way to travel.
Tiqets have your passes, tickets and more in Asia. Click here to book. Try it, then you’ll know.
