Even if you’re not a history nut, Greece is always a delight. From the non-stop frenzy of Athens, to the perfect silence of island like Paros, Greece always has a pleasant surprise for you.
One of the world’s most popular tourist destinations, ranking in the world’s top 20 countries, Greece will capture you, calling you to slow down and let yourself relax. According to the Greek Ministry of Tourism, the nation received about 34 million visitors in 2019, a very large number for a small country of 11 million. Visitors are drawn to the country’s beaches and reliable sunny summer weather, its nightlife, historical sites and natural beauty.

But, how many of you have ventured beyond the standard places and seen sides of Greece that many people never do? Probably most of us, to be honest. And, we have a great place to start if you want to step into new kinds of light. One such place is Vikos. Hanging villages, Ottoman-style stone bridges and the impressive Vikos canyon await in this northwestern region of the Mediterranean country. Locations like Vradeto, the villages of Zagori or Zagorochoria will – likely – be almost empty when you arrive and will give you the opportunity to really breathe, wander and soak in these little-known Greek villages.
