Whither Friday Street?

One of the wonderful things about the UK is the endless fields and subsequent villages of the country and also, happening upon many of the timeless buildings that are part of it. Taking an afternoon and walking to explore some of the less known locations of this country is a really nice day’s out. And we have one for you to consider, and then embark upon.

Note that his kind of walk is one of the best things to do when you have the time and all you really want is peace and quiet, lovely surroundings and a little bit of history.  This story is about Friday Street, in Surrey, UK.  It’s a bucolic and relaxing village surrounded by rolling hills, ancient woodlands, and picturesque countryside, offering a peaceful escape from city life. Try it. You’ll be glad you did.

As you wander, you’ll find your way past some of the beautiful and Oast houses that dot the area. An oast, oast house (or oasthouse) or hop kiln is a building designed for kilning (drying) hops as part of the brewing process.

Friday Street is conveniently located near other popular destinations in Kent, such as Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge, and Maidstone. The pubs in the area are plentiful and friendly. If you’re looking for a tranquil getaway with a touch of history, Friday Street is a delightful destination. Land at Gatwick airport and pick up your hire car there. Depending on the economic winds, the Stephan Langton Pub may be open. Lovely spot. Great beers.
