Peek-a-boo we see you. Most of the time, when deserts come up in conversations, the talk can be rather dry, if it even comes up at all. Still, most of us are drawn by the allure of a desert. But did you know, though, that as big as it is not surprisingly, the Sahara Desert is much more than just mere sand over extensive areas. Hidden beneath the surface of this region are remnants of several ancient civilizations, fossils, sources of water, and space debris. The largest desert in the world is the Antarctic Polar Desert, covering over 14 million sq km (5.5 million sq mi), followed by the Arctic Polar Desert, with the Sahara Desert being the largest hot desert and third overall. Deserts are defined by low precipitation, not just heat, so these vast, cold, icy regions top the list. Watch the video above to learn quite a lot, then take off for the fun & the sun.
