We’ll Fix it Tomorrow.

Is this typical European efficiency or someone’s idea of a joke. Or both? The Netherlands and Belgium share a 450 km border, which is notable for its complexity, particularly in the town of Baarle. This border is part of the Schengen Area, meaning there are no regular passport checks. The border’s intricacies stem from historical treaties and land swaps, resulting in a patchwork of enclaves and exclaves.  Thank the pharaohs that the countries don’t fight each other like so many others do. That doesn’t mean that they’re efficient. Thanks to Tom Scott for highlighting this kerfuffle.

Happily, for the most part, traversing through Mother Europe is simple now and totally worth your holidays. How many times can you say that you have leapt across one border to another, multiple times in one go in mere moments. Here’s your chance. Amaze your friends. Be puzzled at the passport implications.
