There are probably too many good places to visit in China and not enough time. But if you’re in the mood for something a little less if you know what we mean, have you thought of Lijiang? To us, anyway, it’s not a destination that tends to bubble up to the top of the list, but in recent days, we’ve been seeing more and more of this lovely and relaxing place. Straight from the start, Lijiang Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its well-preserved ancient architecture and traditional culture.
The town is home to the Naxi ethnic minority, and visitors can experience their unique Dongba culture, including music, dance, and traditional crafts. You shouldn’t miss the Mufu Palace: Once the political, cultural, and communication center of Lijiang, Mufu Palace is a beautiful example of ancient architecture and provides insight into the region’s history.
Shuhe Ancient Town: Another UNESCO World Heritage site, Shuhe is a smaller, quieter version of Lijiang Old Town, offering a glimpse into the daily lives of the Naxi people. It’s a place that’s calling your name.
