We love how gigantic the world is. We love its people (when they act like humans.) And we love it even more when a new place appears to us. When you travel a lot (we do) it’s always a huge thrill to discover something completely from left field, with so many enticing opportunities to discover something new. And, as a thinking traveler, it’s also pleasing to be able to offer something back, whether it’s to stay in a small hotel, or dine at a family-run restaurant. And, of course, to actually spend time (rather than speed tourism) and slowly work your way around your new-found favourite place. If you visit our site often and are an open-minded traveler like we are, you’ll know that we’re preaching to the converted.
One place that we’ve never been but, now after discovering it, is Wae Rebo Village in Indonesia, especially Labuan Bajo. Labuan Bajo is a fishing town located at the western end of the large island of Flores in the Nusa Tenggara region of east Indonesia. Once a small fishing village, Labuan Bajo (also spelled Labuhanbajo and Labuanbajo) is now a tourist center as well as a centre of government for the surrounding region.
Labuan Bajo is the gateway for trips across the nearby Komodo National Park to Komodo Island and Rinca Island, both home to the famous Komodo dragons. The islands in Labuan Bajo have a very beautiful natural charm, one of which is a water destination that has underwater views with a variety of charming marine life.
