 U-boats off Bell Island

History is, as you know, one of those things that either enthralls you, or makes you run away, kicking and screaming. We’re of the first camp: we love history. Can’t get enough of it. Even if we go on a sunny sojourn to relax on the beach, we ultimately roll up the blankets and head for the relics. We’re also eyes wide open when it comes to what kind of history we prefer: we love it all, especially when the sources are accurate, relevant and engaging.

Sadly, sometimes history gets obfuscated by those who “think they know” or, as is the case these days, those YouTube experts who mar the who experience by being nether experts nor being correct.

Thus, those who seek the historical truth need to be on their toes in order to stay the course. In this case, the course is history of sorts out of Canada that features Adolph Hitler, an easy target. Bell Island is one of those places where history undoubtedly took place, but we have to wonder about the provenance of this story.

The Shipwreck preservation society of Newfoundland keeps their eyes on – as you might have surmised – Shipwrecks. But the video here goes above and beyond. What do you think? Did Hitler ever get this far? Are the wrecks what they say they are? Watch the video above and let us know what you think, too.
