With next year being the 50th anniversary of the Watergate break-in of 1972, (For those not aware, the illegal activities that went on in the Watergate Hotel were the start of the unraveling of US president Richard Nixon’s reign.)
Now, completely legally, guests can visit or reside in room 214, the site of the Watergate scandal. Called the Scandal Room, it has been made into a museum of the 1970s and the events that happened there.
For those who don’t like scandal, or would prefer something else, this historic hotel sits next to the Potomac River and Georgetown. The hotel was renovated and reopened in 2016, featuring a whiskey bar with more than 350 types of whiskey in over 2,500 bottles.
