. . . and more than a little good news. Let’s all make a difference. This post is multi-purpose, where everyone comes out a winner. One group that we have always admired and respected since we were young is The National Geographic. We’ve applauded their ethos, their world view and the determination to help make the world a better place. If you’re not in the know, let us get you up to speed and introduce you to a brilliant match-up of two companies and the synergies that each brings.

The National Geographic is a globally renowned organization best summarized as a non-profit scientific and educational society dedicated to increasing and diffusing geographic knowledge, inspiring people to care about the planet, and protecting the wonder of our world through exploration, research, education, and storytelling. They almost don’t need an introduction, as their depth and breadth is known worldwide.

On a related note, we also have an update for if you’re aware of this venerable and worthy organisation. Well-known Lindblad Expeditions (they’re affiliate partners of ours) have joined with National Geographic to together offer a new range of adventures and activities for those who are of similar adventure mindsets.

But, if you need an introduction or a refresher, The National Geographic Society (the non-profit arm) has historically funded thousands of scientific research projects and expeditions across all seven continents. This includes legendary endeavors like the polar expeditions, the discovery of Tutankhamen’s tomb, Jane Goodall’s chimpanzee research, and ocean exploration. They put their heart into their work and produce good results. They’re time well spent, and an example of how the world can be. Click here to learn more and be a part of the good.

We have always believed in a “one world” way of life, so we hope to do our part, too. For some time, through it’s own channels, or through ventures such as Novica. (Novica is an online marketplace that connects artisans from around the world with customers, specializing in fair trade handcrafted goods.) We’ve featured their products and their ethos, as well. You can see the synergies here and why we’re so excited about this post and how much it promises.
National Geographic has a strategic alliance with Novica, making it a co-owner of the company. National Geographic Ventures, the investment arm of the National Geographic Society, holds a 19% stake in Novica. This alliance provides Novica with access to National Geographic’s content, cross-marketing support, and commerce channels. In turn, Novica allows individuals to experience different cultures through its art and helps artisans maintain their traditional crafts.

Founded in 1999, Novica’s mission is to empower artisans, preserve cultural art forms, and promote fair trade practices. They offer a wide variety of products, including jewelry, clothing, home decor, and gifts, all handcrafted by independent artisans. It makes a world of difference. We’ve featured them a number of times over the past few years and do our part to try to add to the good. When you buy, it’s a world of difference for so many who can certainly benefit.
