As the seasons pass, so does control of them. In this case, we’re talking about The Four Seasons hotel chain.
Bill Gates (you, um, know him from Windows and stuff) will take control of the Four Seasons hotel chain after his investment firm agreed to acquire a stake from Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal’s Kingdom Holding Co., in a bet that luxury travel will rebound from a pandemic-induced slump.
Gates’s Cascade Investment LLC will pay $2.2 billion in cash to boost its stake in Four Seasons Holdings to 71.25% from 47.5%
At heart, we here think he’s a pretty good guy overall, and wish him (and all of his hotel customers) the best. The Four Seasons here in Vancouver – where there is no shortage of people with money – was forced to close. But, never fear, this is one in Whistler, here in British Columbia, Canada.
