Smelly Delhi?

Boy, there’s a stigma that needs to go away, pronto. Delhi, India is as big, bustling and modern as any world-class city. The old stereotype of crumbled architecture, barefoot residents and non-existent infrastructure is old hat. Delhi has established itself as a top world city by shedding its old stereotypes and embracing modernization, driven by massive infrastructure and a booming service-based economy. It’s a city of powerful contrasts where ancient history and cutting-edge modernity coexist. For much of its history, Delhi was known for its political and cultural significance. Today, that has expanded to include a massive, rapidly growing economy.

For those of us who have visited India (your editor is one of those) it’s a hectic, smokey, congested and exciting adventure. Many people still believe that stereotype, though. For the most part, those days are gone. A perfect example of this is Delhi’s rail and train services. What once was, at best, a daily struggle is now an adventure in transit.

Service-Driven Growth: The city’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) is one of the highest in India, with its economy dominated by the services sector, including IT, finance, telecommunications, and tourism. This has attracted foreign investment and a skilled, English-speaking workforce.

Look sharp! Delhi has been improving its infrastructure over and over. It’s the way to get around.

It’s a cacophony of humanity, for sure. But, you’ll never forget it. To book your trip, click here
