At the risk of writing another one of those “shock / horror” posts that seem to bloat the internet nowadays, this article actually has some investigative journalism behind it, and it’s well worth reading if you find yourself looking for accommodations when you travel. It’s a wild, wild world when it comes to finding a place to rest your head, that’s for sure.
We recently discovered an article (with accompanying video) concerning AirBnB and, ostensibly, its ways of working. And lots of questions arise. Avid travelers, who are regularly scouring the internet for good deals for rentals know all about this. Sometimes, the rental is a smashing success, other times, not so much. And, in this instance, the subject matter is a bit worrying. CNN call it Airbnb’s hidden camera problem, and that’s exactly what it is.
The video does an excellent job in describing the width and the depth of the problem, so we won’t belabor that, but Airbnb said there are 35,000 tickets that represent contact with the customer support team within the scope of the security camera and recording devices policy documented over a decade. We don’t know the full volume of Airbnb’s annual purchases, but it is telling that Airbnb are trying to keep these complaints out of the courts and to keep them quiet.
