One aspect of running this website is the pure shape, size and volume of content that just sits out there, waiting to be discovered. In fact, it’s one of our biggest joys to find new finds (as it were) to not only share with you, but to also tickle and enlighten ourselves, as well. However, in all of our many and sundry jaunts around the planet fate has never dropped us into Texas. We’re not sure why. And, let’s see if we can fix that. As a primer, here’s a little bit about it to start. Texas is brimming with historical sites, offering a deep dive into the state’s rich and complex past. Here’s a glimpse of what you can explore, with a special focus on The Alamo.
Once you go, you’ll get a very clear impression about the Alamo, what it is, and what it means to Texans. Firstly, Texas’s fight for independence from Mexico is a cornerstone of its history. You can visit numerous battlegrounds and historical sites related to this period, and many of these are still extant and real.

But, as you see by the title of the video, there is something else afoot in that state and in that the monument. Washington-on-the-Brazos: “Where Texas Became Texas,” is the site of the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence. Another real “wow” moment is the Presidio La Bahía: a significant Spanish colonial fort that played a role in the revolution. Beautiful and a must-see.
